  • Supervised a team of seven captioners, organising and assigning over 600 captioning and quality assurance tasks since August 2025 to deliver high-quality captions for the University’s online content.
  • Led the development of a comprehensive captioning style guide, drawing from industry and accessibility best practices, used to standardise captioning across the University.
  • Programmed and deployed a web-based transcript formatting tool in JavaScript, which converted technical .srt and .vtt subtitle files to a more accessible and readable format for service users.

  • Corrected machine-generated captions for a wide range of content, including teaching materials, research presentations, and public-facing videos across all Colleges of the University.
  • Developed an awareness of public sector accessibility regulations and the importance of high-quality captioning in higher education.
  • Implemented an evidence-based methodology for assessing the accuracy of machine-generated captions, which was subsequently used to analyse a sample of 90 videos.

  • Supported the Transfer of Care service at Colchester Hospital, which received hundreds of continuing healthcare referrals each week.
  • Progressed referrals in line with Trust policy, utilising a variety of NHS software and liasing with multiple internal and external colleagues to support safe and timely discharges.
  • Assisted patients’ relatives as a first point of contact for queries regarding the service, providing clear and accurate information in a compassionate and professional manner.
